"We are unable to issue a certificate for this site"?

I’m trying to register clip.blast.video on a free account. I’ve mapped it with a CNAME at netlify to ytclip-server.onrender.com. When I register the domain name with render.com I get the following error:

We are unable to issue a certificate for this site. Please check our and verify your DNS records are correct.

It fixed itself. The answer is wait a little while for some name resolution cached value to expire.
