Validation error; previewPlan does not allow "free"

Hi,

Setting previewPlan: free on render.yaml on a web service results in:

services[0].previewPlan free plan is not valid as a previewPlan

This seems to be a validation error because setting:

  1. plan: starter + previewPlan: free results in the error above.
  2. plan: free and not setting previewPlan works and the preview is on the free plan.

Hey Marc,
To confirm -this is expected behaviour at the moment. If you are using a paid plan you cannot use a free plan for a preview environment.

Is there any plans to change this?
Even though I am a paid user, I would like to use the free plan for previewPlan.

I don’t believe we have any plans to change this - we may even go as far as to prevent free services from using preview environments themselves.
