Reduce initial server response time

Hey,

I’m experiencing slow initial server response times, as indicated by Google Lighthouse in Chrome. Despite checking from multiple locations, the results are consistently poor, with response times around 5030ms, 5480ms, Root document took 6,000 ms etc.

My setup includes:
• PostgreSQL 15 Starter: 256 MB RAM (average memory usage: 20%, CPU: 3%, Storage: 7%)
• Web Service Standard: 1 CPU, 2 GB (average memory usage: 10%, CPU: 0.5%, Disk: 8%)

Everything appears to be underutilized, yet the initial response times remain high. The application is developed in Node.js with Strapi as the headless CMS.

Any insights on potential causes or solutions?

Hey,

We’ll need at least a link to your application to help out here, so we can try to reproduce the issue. Are you consistently experiencing slow load times, or is it happening on specific pages? Does this occur throughout the entire day or only under certain loads? Also, what are you seeing for TTFB?

Hey Jérémy,

here is the link: https://sanofeld.de/
Its happening at several Pages, most of the time its between 800-3.000ms
It occurs through the entire Day.

Thanks.

Hey,

I’m getting conflicting results from the tests I’ve run on this domain. The TTFB isn’t consistently bad and sometimes seems normal. However, I’m not sure how much of the response delay is due to your setup versus ours. We’ll need to take a closer look at your underlying services on Render to provide more insights. Please reach out to us through the ‘Contact Support’ form on the dashboard, and we’ll investigate further.
