Why does Mongo database respond with 304 not modified when MERN app is in deployed or in production?

I am trying to deploy a MERN application. It works perfectly on my local React sever in development, however, when deployed it no longer communicates with the server as expected. All requests are returned with 304 and no data is received. Could anyone assist?
