Connecting PostgreSQL locally

I’m trying to connect PSQL locally and it is giving me this error: port 5432 failed: SSL connection has been closed unexpectedly.

I’m just simply copy pasting the PSQL command from the connect tab of the DB to my command line.

Any idea how to fix this?
