Can't access external MySQL database from render istance

Hi there!
I was trying to deploy a python script that has to connect to a MySQL server, but it gives me this error:

mysql.connector.errors.DatabaseError: 2005 (HY000): Unknown MySQL server host (host):3306’ (-2)

I’m sure the host is correct, because i tried to connect to it via localhost and it worked, if you can help me solve this issue i would be very greatful! (i replaced the hostname with ‘host’ for privacy).
