Thanks for the detailed response! You helped me get it working. I was trying to connect using ws://myservice.onrender.com:10000. Your answer helped me discover two things that I needed to fix: From the client ws:// does not work - you must use wss:// to connect From the client, do not specify a port. I needed to drop the :10000 and just use ws://myservice.onrender.com Now it works like a charm. I’d love to see both of these points added to the official documentation.

So I noticed the post above and tried to use: wss://render-generated-url.com but my client won’t connect still.

Does anybody have the solution for getting this to work?

Hi,

There will always be differences between environments. Development mode/Local, production mode/Render, etc. These differences need to be considered and configured as required for your own app in each environment.

A common issue we see is trying to start a separate socket process/port. A Render Web Service can only expose one port to the public proxy, so that either needs to be your socket server, or combine servers to go through one, e.g. express
